PIRG added Samsung to its laptop list and graded the Galaxy Book line B- in both 2025 and 2026 on the France index. However, no Samsung laptop is scored on iFixit's curated list and there is little independent teardown data for Galaxy Book laptops specifically (Samsung's phone repairability is mediocre, e.g. Galaxy S25 Ultra 5/10, but that does not transfer to laptops). Because per-model laptop technical evidence is thin, graded conservatively at D despite PIRG's B-; confidence is low pending a direct laptop teardown score.

Named alongside LG as a WORST offender for restricting professional service documentation (PIRG/iFixit FTC survey). Partly offset by a consumer Self-Repair program covering washers, dryers and refrigerators with genuine parts and free guides via SamsungParts.com (Encompass) at authorized-provider pricing — a real plus LG lacks — but iFixit publicly ENDED its Samsung repair partnership in 2024 citing weak commitment, so documentation/parts access for supported models is uneven. Integrated/smart designs and software-gated diagnostics limit repair friendliness.

iFixit scored the Galaxy Tab S3 = 4/10 (front and back both glued) and rated the Tab S8 only 'average'; tablets carry the same adhesive penalty as Samsung phones. Samsung runs an official Self-Repair program with iFixit selling genuine parts (display, battery, charging port) plus step-by-step guides for tablets including Tab S7+ and the Tab S9 series, which lifts parts and manual availability. Coverage gaps remain: newer Tab S10/S11 are not yet in the self-repair program. Less aggressive parts-pairing than Apple but genuine-part verification exists.

Samsung runs an official Self-Repair program offering genuine parts, tools and manuals, and TV boards (power/main/T-CON, LED strips) are broadly stocked via Samsung Parts USA, iFixit and third parties; mainboards run roughly $30-150. Schematics are officially restrictive (iFixit reports Samsung among the worst at sharing documentation to pros) though leaked service manuals circulate widely. No DRM/parts-pairing on TVs, so board swaps are not software-blocked. Repair friendliness is dragged down by the universal LCD/OLED reality that a replacement panel costs about as much as (or more than) a new TV, so only board-level repair is economical.

Most physically repairable of the mainstream pack: Galaxy Buds Live scored 8/10, Buds+ 7/10, original Buds 6/10 (glueless, standard replaceable coin-cell batteries) — though Galaxy Buds Pro regressed to 3/10. Galaxy Watch (1st gen) scored 7/10 and Galaxy Watch5 6/10 (screws/clips, modular). Pulled down to F because iFixit notes 'no official replacement parts or repair instructions' for the Buds or Watch lines, and the fused digitizer/soldered button cables limit watch screen repair. Older buds benefit from widely available standard coin cells; Watch has Reactivation Lock.

iFixit gives the Galaxy S25 Ultra a provisional 5/10 — the battery is now easier to remove and the charge port is modular, but the screen is tightly glued to the chassis and adhesive secures both screen and back cover. iFixit publicly ended its Samsung self-repair partnership in May 2024, citing parts priced so high consumers replace rather than repair, a 7-parts-per-shop-per-quarter limit, and a contract requiring shops to report customers and disassemble devices containing third-party parts. Parts remain available (iFixit has sold Samsung parts since 2015) and Samsung still offers some manuals, but pricing and software/serialization concerns are significant. PIRG 2026 grades Samsung a D under EPREL.
