E-Waste & Data Destruction Policy

Version 1.0.0 — Last updated: June 8, 2026

This policy explains RepairYour.Tech's role with respect to electronics recycling and data destruction. It supplements our Terms of Service.

1. RepairYour.Tech lists — it does not recycle

RepairYour.Tech is a directory. We help you find recyclers and connect with third parties who collect, refurbish, recycle, or dispose of electronics. We do not ourselves collect, store, dismantle, recycle, or destroy data on devices. Those activities are performed by independent third parties.

2. Responsibility for recycling & data destruction

The recycler, refurbisher, or buyer who takes possession of a device is responsible for handling it lawfully — including environmental compliance, downstream chain-of-custody, and any certified data destruction. Their own terms govern that work. RepairYour.Tech does not guarantee a third party's certifications, methods, or outcomes.

3. Wipe your data before handing off a device

Before you sell, trade, recycle, or dispose of a device, back up and then erase your personal data, sign out of accounts, and remove any activation or device locks. Do not rely on a third party to remove your data. We provide guidance, not a data-destruction service.

4. Batteries & hazardous materials

Lithium batteries and other components can be hazardous. Follow the recycler's instructions and applicable law for safe handling, packaging, and shipping. Do not place batteries in household trash.

5. If this changes

If RepairYour.Tech ever begins to collect, refurbish, or recycle electronics directly, we will update this policy and the corresponding registrations and disclosures before doing so.
