Signed into Law
Right to Repair (Consumer Electronics)
Summary
Requires manufacturers of consumer digital electronic equipment priced over $50 — laptops, smartphones, tablets, and similar devices — to make replacement parts, tools, and repair documentation available to owners and independent repair providers on fair and reasonable terms. First Republican-led state to enact an electronics RTR law. Weaker than peers: it does not ban parts pairing and adds OEM safeguards; excludes medical devices, farm and industrial equipment, motor vehicles, and video game consoles.
