Score breakdown

Parts Availability 55
Schematic Access 42
Repairability 52
OEM Pricing 50
Software Freedom 48

Why this grade

Xiaomi runs an official Self-Repair service in EU/UK selling original parts for recent phones with iFixit-style guides, and several recent models historically scored 7-8 on France's repairability index (a positive on parts availability and documentation). However the program is geographically limited (not US), the stricter EU EPREL methodology lowers older French scores, no recent iFixit hands-on score was available to anchor disassembly, and some component pairing exists. Held to a high-F on the equal-weight composite with low confidence given thin recent teardown evidence.

Methodology & version

Five dimensions — parts availability, schematic access, repairability, OEM pricing, and software freedom — are scored 0–100 and weighted equally; the letter grade is the average (A 90–100, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60). This assessment is current as of 6/9/2026 and cites its sources below. It covers the Smartphones category and is not a claim about every device the maker ships.
