Score breakdown
Why this grade
TCL maintains an official Self-Repair Services page routing customers to an authorized parts distributor, and its modular boards (power, main, T-CON) are inexpensive and widely cross-referenced on TV Parts Today/ShopJimmy; boards are screw-and-harness modular and easy to swap. Service manuals exist on free repositories and 'upon request' but there's no robust official schematic portal. No parts pairing. Parts are cheap, but because the whole TV is cheap the repair-vs-replace math often favors replacement, and panels remain uneconomical - keeping this a D.
Methodology & version
Five dimensions — parts availability, schematic access, repairability, OEM pricing, and software freedom — are scored 0–100 and weighted equally; the letter grade is the average (A 90–100, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60). This assessment is current as of 6/9/2026 and cites its sources below. It covers the TVs category and is not a claim about every device the maker ships.
