Legacy OEM with a deep parts and service-information ecosystem: ACDelco/GM service information is subscription-available to independents, OEM parts flow through ACDelco plus a large aftermarket, and GM is bound by the July 2023 ASA/SCRS/Auto Innovators commitment that 'independent repair facilities shall have access to the same diagnostic and repair information that auto manufacturers make available to authorized dealer networks.' Drags: GM (via the Alliance for Automotive Innovation) spent years challenging Massachusetts' telematics R2R expansion, and in December 2024 U.S. senators publicly called automakers' R2R opposition 'hypocritical,' singling out the telematics/data-control posture (OnStar).
