Score breakdown

Parts Availability 82
Schematic Access 55
Repairability 85
OEM Pricing 68
Software Freedom 78

Why this grade

Rated Tier 1 for real-world serviceability by technicians — German-engineered documentation quality, reliable OEM parts supply, large installed base, and an accessible online parts catalog (a concrete advantage under the French index). The negative is posture toward independent/self repair: PIRG documented Bosch telling a customer 'we would not have any documentation to support self service,' and the FTC-survey work ranked Bosch (tied with Miele) as the next-worst documentation restrictor behind LG/Samsung. Strong physical serviceability, but restricted documentation access pulls the average to a C.

Methodology & version

Five dimensions — parts availability, schematic access, repairability, OEM pricing, and software freedom — are scored 0–100 and weighted equally; the letter grade is the average (A 90–100, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69, F below 60). This assessment is current as of 6/9/2026 and cites its sources below. It covers the Large appliances category and is not a claim about every device the maker ships.
