Device Condition & Grading

Repair-native grading that tells you what actually matters. Every grade is tied to real repair taxonomy and can be verified through the Device Passport.

Cosmetic Grade

How the device looks on the outside. Cosmetic grade does not guarantee functional condition — always check both.

Functional Grade

What the device actually does. This is independent of cosmetic condition — a cracked phone can still be fully working.

Fully Working

All hardware functions operate correctly: display, touch, cameras, sensors, audio, cellular, Wi-Fi, biometrics.

Partially Working

Device powers on and core functions work, but some features are impaired (e.g., Face ID broken, camera blurry, one speaker dead).

For Parts / Not Working

Device does not power on or has critical failures. Best suited for parts harvest, data recovery, or advanced board-level repair.

Device Passport Verification

A Device Passport is a verified repair and ownership history. When a listing includes a passport, you can see:

  • Verified repair history with dates and shops
  • Part replacement authenticity (OEM vs aftermarket)
  • Stolen-device checks and ownership transfers
  • Warranty service records
  • Certified refurbishment status

If a seller claims a grade but the passport shows conflicting repair history, the passport takes precedence. We flag mismatches automatically.

How This Differs From eBay / Swappa

Generic marketplaces grade on seller-claimed cosmetics alone. Our grades are anchored to verifiable device history.

  • Verified repair history: Every graded device can show shop-verified repairs, not just seller claims.
  • Device Passport: Serial/IMEI-linked history including parts provenance, prior ownership, and lost/stolen checks.
  • Shop trust scores: Sellers with verified repair volume and warranty outcomes, not just feedback stars.
  • Escrow milestones: Buyers get inspection windows, dispute deadlines, and evidence upload — not just "hope it works."
  • Hub Shop handoff: Optional in-person verification at certified local repair shops.
